Our beer

Lobeč beer is made using a centuries-proven classical Czech procedure with a high degree of manual work. All ingredients in beer brewing are, as far as possible, natural and untreated, as bestowed on us by our Lord. On this occasion, we like to quote a sentence by Benjamin Franklin, which, reportedly, he never pronounced though: „Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.“

For Lobeč beer brewing, we use local water source, located at Stříbrník near Vojtěchov, in the very heart of the Kokořínsko protected landscape area. The mineral elements in our water make it particularly suitable for brewing light beers of the Czech type.

Malt is made of the local fields – Lobeč and neighbouring Vrátno – harvest. The malting process takes place in the nearby malt plant at Mšeno, with a tradition since the 19th century. Besides its bright colour and its high quality it is also distinguished by the high contents of extractive substances, providing our beers with rich, full flavour without using darker malts, as is usually done elsewhere.

Yeast culture, the very essence of every beer, is a pure strain supplied by the Research Institute of Brewing and Malting in Prague. We can also use pure culture from Fermentis laboratory.

Hops, as should always be the case of Czech-type beers, are of Czech production. Major part of them comes from the Žatec region, reputed to yield the highest quality hops worldwide.

We make single-malt light beers of the Pilsner type. We prefer these beers, without the Munich or Vienna type caramel malts. On the other hand, we don´t hesitate to add foreign malts, as well as hops or yeast strains. They fit in these beers.

Yeasts turn beer into a source of vitamins and, above all, enzymes, protecting liver from the negative impact of alcohol. We don´t filter or pasteurize any of our beers, not to rid them of these substances. Our beers are live, unfiltered, and therefore less durable and stable compared to beers treated by filtration, pasteurization and various chemical additives. That is why we deliver to our pubs on a regular basis, so you may always enjoy our beer fresh, without having spent weeks in warehouses or cellars.
